| The Iron Furnace Interpretive Center Main Street, Franconia, NH. Self-guided and viewable anytime. Scale model and outdoor panels explain the operation of a hot blast iron furnace from 1805 to 1865. The furnace itself, on private property across the Gale river can be seen from the Interpretive Center. It is the only such furnace still standing in NH |

The Frost Place Located off Route 116 at 158 Ridge Road, PO Box 74, Franconia, NH. Tel: (603) 823-5510. Open weekends in Spring 1 to 5 pm. Summer and fall, Wed.- Mon. 1-5pm. The Frost Place Museum and Poetry Center was established by the local community to honor poet Robert Frost, and to celebrate contemporary poetry through conferences and residencies. The museum features exhibits of manuscripts and furniture associated with Robert Frost, who lived on this Homestead. Readings and talks are hosted throughout the summer.

| Biking Head out to explore the beautiful back roads of the White Mountains. Franconia Notch State Park has several miles of bike paths. Rentals are available at Franconia Sport Shop or at Cannon Mountain. |
| Boating and Fishing Franconia Notch State Park offers all you need for your boating and fishing pleasures. Boat rentals are available at Echo Lake Beach. Echo Lake and Profile Lake are super fishing spots. Visitors can also explore our many rivers and streams throughout the area. Don't forget to get a fishing license - available in Franconia. |

| Hiking There are trails to the summits of all the peaks in the White Mountains. The Appalachian Trail (Georgia to Maine) runs through Franconia Notch State Park. Look for trailhead signs along the interstate parkway in Franconia Notch State Park. Hiking maps and trail information are available at the Flume. Most full service inns will provide you with box lunches. Sandwiches and fixings are available at Mac's Market and the Village store in Franconia. |
| Nature Activities Bird watching virtually everywhere. Wildflowers grow alongside most highways and back roads. Moose generally sleep during the day so your chances of spotting one are fairly slim. They do wander around at night so be very careful when driving after dark |

| Scenic Drives A National Scenic Byway tour crosses through the White Mountain National Forest on the lovely Kancamagus Highway, swings North thought the village of North Conway and then East back to Lincoln completing circle route. There are miles and miles of back country roads throughout the region for you to explore. Route 117 Franconia to Sugar Hill is a New Hampshire Scenic and Cultural Byway. Views of the mountains from Sugar Hill are The Postcard Views of the White Mountains - Not to be missed! Get a free State Highway map at the Information booth on Main Street in Franconia and chart your own course to view the many scenic Notches in the North country. |
