The tranquil and charming little village of Sugar Hill is best known for
portraying spectacular, picture-postcard views of New Hampshire’s imposing
White Mountains. Viewed from Sunset Hill Road at the peak of Sugar Hill, the
sweeping panorama of the Franconia, Twin Mountain and Presidential Ranges is
a must-see. With its abundance of sugar, red and striped maples, Sugar
Hill’s picturesque country lanes are a favorite for autumn “leaf peepers”.
Hallmarking the start of the region’s dominance in winter sports, the site
of America’s first ski school can be found in Sugar Hill. It is recognized
by a state historical marker on Route 117.
