Horseback Riding & Sleigh Rides

Located just north of the Franconia Notch at the scenic, Franconia Inn, the Franconia Notch Stables offers year round horseback trail rides and winter horse drawn sleigh rides. Enjoy views of Mt. Lafayette, Cannon Mountain, and the Kinsman Ridge, directly from your saddle or in the comfort of your sleigh. It’ll be a memory you won’t forget. Summer / Fall horseback trail rides and winter sleigh rides available. 1 hour horseback excursion takes riders through fields and forests as it looks onto Mt. Lafayette, Cannon Mountain and Kinsman Ridge along side other exquisite mountain views. It’s no wonder we’ve been told we have the “best views around.”

A fan favorite is crossing the Hamm Branch River where your horse may stop for a drink or, better yet, give you a refreshing splash. If you’re lucky, you may come across a moose on our early morning tour, or deer, turkey, and turtles anytime throughout the day! Keep an eye out for beaver as you pass through Beaver Bend, a scenic woods path that twists and turns with the riverside. Be sure to bring your camera! Your guide will be happy to snap a photo out on the trail.

Beginner friendly and safe for all levels. Rest assured your guide will begin with a brief instruction of how to safely ride a horse. Helmets are optional for riders 18 years and older.

Majestic sleigh rides are the perfect activity for your winter get-away! When the snow flies, the sleigh rides begin. Cozy up with our Pendleton blankets and be sure to bring your favorite beverage! Our rides depart directly across the street from the Franconia Inn on the hour and the half hour. Please check in at the Inn front desk upon arrival. Whether you’re preparing for a romantic ride for two, or fun for the whole family, it will be a special memory to take home. Our traditional one-horse sleigh holds up to 4 adults. Reservations required.
